Gujarati Font Converter

This Gujarati font converter reads Terafont, LMG Arun and Krishna. Paste old text and it names the font, then gives you Unicode that any phone or portal reads. Unicode Gujarati can also go back into Terafont or Krishna for a form that still uses them.

Why people use this tool

For Gujarat offices that keep Revenue forms in Terafont, copy gazette notices set in Krishna, and fill portals that take only Unicode.

Two layouts, told apart

Revenue forms and panchayat lists are mostly Terafont Varun or LMG Arun. Gazette notices and the Treasury Rules are Krishna. The page reads both ways and keeps the one that gives Gujarati words.

ર and ૨ kept apart

Terafont typists press the ર key for the digit 2, because the two look alike. Inside a date or an amount it becomes ૨; in a word such as સરકાર it stays ર.

Back into an old form

A reply typed on a phone can go into a Terafont form or a Krishna register. Copy and the Word file set the font, so you don't retype a line.

Stays in your browser

The conversion runs on your device. Your text is not uploaded to our server.

English left alone

Words in English, numbers and email addresses are kept as they are. Only the old-font text is changed.

Words to check are marked

If a word does not look like a real word after conversion, it is underlined so you can check it.

HOW IT WORKS

Steps to convert Gujarati text

Four steps, all of them in your browser. Nothing to install and no account.

01

Paste the Gujarati text.

Copy it from a Word form, an Excel list or a gazette PDF whose text you can select.

02

Read the font line.

Under the box it says Terafont Varun / LMG Arun or Krishna. If you know the file used the other one, change From.

03

Pick the result.

Choose Unicode for WhatsApp, portals and Google Docs. Terafont or Krishna for a form or register still kept in that font.

04

Copy, or take the file.

Copy as table puts a list back into Excel cells. The Word file carries the font on every Gujarati run.

What's kept, and what to check

The text comes across as it was typed. A few things are worth a look before you use it.

What's kept

Kept either way

Lines, tabs and columns.

A list pasted from Excel comes back with each value in its own column.

Conjuncts and signs.

ક્ષ, જ્ઞ, શ્ર, the reph and the short i are rebuilt for whichever side you convert to. Terafont has no half ક, જ or ય, so રાજ્ય goes into it as રાજય, the way its typists spell it.

English words.

A name or an English word typed in Arial next to the Gujarati stays as it was typed. Figures follow the digits switch.

Check before use

Worth a look

The font it names.

A short line can fit both layouts. When the page asks, choose; if a word you know reads wrong, set From yourself.

Capital abbreviations in Terafont.

Terafont keeps Gujarati letters on the capital keys, so an English PWD beside Terafont text can come out as Gujarati. Compare short capital words with the original.

Digits.

Both old fonts draw ૦–૯, so the result has Gujarati digits. Turn on the digits switch to get 0–9 from either font.

Terafont, LMG and Krishna don't come from us. A form in Terafont-Varun or a register in Krishna shows its Gujarati only on a PC where that face is installed; How it will look previews it here meanwhile.

TRICKY LETTERS

Tricky letters we test

Real words from Revenue Department forms (Terafont) and gazette pages (Krishna). Each result below comes from this page's own converter during the site build, and one wrong row fails it.

QUESTIONS

Questions

Answers to common questions about Gujarati Font Converter.

What fonts can the Gujarati font converter handle?

Two old layouts and Unicode. Terafont Varun, LMG Arun and LMG Rupen share one layout; Krishna, Chitra, Mani and Goverdhan share the other. Unicode is what Shruti, Nirmala UI and phone keyboards write. Other old fonts, such as Gopika or Harikrishna, are not covered.

How can I tell Terafont text from Krishna text?

Look at one common word. સરકાર is ;ZSFZ in Terafont: capitals and punctuation. In Krishna it is çßÀëß, full of accented letters. You don't have to check by hand, though. The page reads your text both ways and names the font under the box.

Can I go from Unicode to LMG Arun for an old form?

Yes. Set To to Terafont Varun / LMG Arun, then paste the Unicode Gujarati. The two fonts share their keys, so one result fits both. Copy and the Word file set Terafont-Varun on it; if your form is in LMG Arun, select the text and pick LMG Arun instead.

Why do Terafont dates look like ર૦૧૬?

Terafont Varun has no glyph for ૨ or ૫. Typists press the ર and પ keys, which look the same on paper, so a year like 2016 is typed as ર૦૧૬. This Gujarati unicode converter reads ર and પ as digits only inside a number, and leaves them as letters in words.

Can it read text copied from the Gujarat Gazette?

Yes, where the gazette PDF lets you select the text and it is set in Krishna, Chitra, Mani or Goverdhan. Those faces share Krishna's keys. Their 0–9 keys draw Gujarati digits, so the result shows ૦–૯ unless you set the digits switch to English.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. Your text stays in this browser tab while both fonts are tried on it and the result is made. A transfer list with teachers' names or a draft circular never reaches us.
