Old templates stay in use
A card, form or page laid out years ago in Nudi can take text that was typed in Unicode.

Copy and the .rtf mark each Kannada run with the Nudi font and each English run with Arial, so a Place keeps both.
Says when you can skip it
Nudi 6.0 and later type Unicode Kannada, so a template made in them takes the text as it is.

How to convert Unicode Kannada to Nudi
Four steps, all of them in your browser. Nothing to install and no account.
Paste the Unicode Kannada.
Take the text from the customer's message, the email or the Google Doc and put it in the left box.
Pick the font name.
Nudi is the default. Choose Baraha if the layout uses BRH Kannada. The keys are the same; only the font name changes.
Preview the Kannada before you print.
The right box shows the Kannada the Nudi font will draw. Set the digits switch and look at any underlined word.
Place it in PageMaker.
Download the .rtf and place it, or copy the text. The tabs under the result cover PageMaker, Word and CorelDraw.

Each paragraph and line of the notice or card stays where it was.
Conjuncts and vowel signs.
Vattaksharas, the arkavattu and two-part vowel signs are typed in the key order Nudi fonts draw.
English words.
KSRTC, names and web addresses pass through as typed and keep Arial in Copy and the files.
Check before use
Look at these in the layout
Numbers.
Set the digits switch before you copy. With it off, 0–9 take the Kannada font, and BRH Kannada draws them as ೦–೯.
Rare letters.
A letter no Nudi key holds, such as ೠ, is left as it is and underlined.
Nudi 01 e and BRH Kannada come with the Nudi and Baraha software, not from us: use the ones already installed with your PageMaker or template.

Questions
Answers to common questions about Unicode to Nudi.
Do I need a Unicode to Nudi converter if I have Nudi 6.0?
No. Nudi 6.0 and later type and save Unicode, so paste the Kannada straight in. Only templates made in Nudi 5.0 or older need Nudi key text.
Why does the converted text look like Latin letters and symbols?
Nudi 5.0 fonts draw Kannada on the keys of an English keyboard, so ಕನ್ನಡ is stored as PÀ£ÀßqÀ. Once a Nudi font is set on it, it prints as Kannada. The .rtf download sets that font for you.
How do I get the text into PageMaker without losing the font?
Save the .rtf and bring it in with File, then Place. Kannada runs arrive in Nudi 01 e and English runs in Arial, so there is nothing to reselect.
Can I get Baraha text instead of Nudi?
Yes. Choose Baraha in the menu at the top of the converter. Unicode to Baraha gives the same bytes, because BRH Kannada uses the same keys as Nudi. Only the font named in Copy and the downloads changes.
Will dates stay in English digits?
Yes, while "Keep 0–9 as English digits" is on, which is the default. The digits then go out in Arial. Turn it off to give them the Kannada font; BRH Kannada and the Nudi k fonts draw those keys as ೦–೯.
English words turned into Kannada letters after pasting. Why?
The whole paragraph was set to the Nudi font, which draws Kannada on English keys too. Select the English words and give them Arial, or place the .rtf, which keeps the two apart.
